Why do I need a Puppy Playpen???
I'm home all the time and the puppy can stay with me, right???
This is a real good question, please bear with me while I explain!
The short answer - a puppy playpen when used correctly - can be a life saver for teacup puppies and gives you peace of mind, knowing your baby is in a safe place, when you are busy or away!
The long answer - this is a bit roundabout, but please read this carefully – this is the underlying basis of my theory for not only successfully breeding but also raising these tiny and teacup puppies....
A Puppy Playpen helps reducing Low Blood Sugar Episodes...
I've been breeding teacup & tiny chihuahuas for over 14 years now, and looking at my experiences and evaluating some of the sad stories some my puppy buyers have shared with me over the years in regards to their previous pups, I have come to this single one conclusion:
In order to success- fully raise a teacup or tiny pup into a healthy adult, you must avoid for your pup to get hypoclycemia [low blood sugar] as much as possible.
You may not be able to avoid all hypoglycemic episodes, especially if this is your first teacup and you are working out the differences between raising a wee tiny pup and a normal toy size pup - but I truly think it is crucial that you have as few low blood sugar episodes as possible. The playpen will help you accomplish this.
If you are not familiar with hypoglycemia in teacup puppies, please visit this page here. Just to sum up – low blood sugar happens when your pups' calorie intake can't keep up with its calorie usage. Poor quality food, kibble sizes to big to chew without exhausting itself during eating, too distracted to eat, too much exercise, running, playing and bouncing all over the place instead of spending part of its day in a playpen close to you, not enough rest and sleep, lots of fussing or crying for being lonely, shivering being cold or panting being hot – all takes away much needed energy from this little tiny body. Your job for the first few months is to make sure that issues as these, do not become issues at all.

A Puppy Playpen cuts down on accidental Injuries...
A puppy playpen provides for most of the needs of a tiny or teacup sized puppy:
A safe place, where your tiny pup can securely play unsupervised or when you are busy or not at home. Free of injuries and accidents, and where it won't be getting into tight spots where it shouldn't be in, when you're not looking.
Tiny puppies fit into the smallest spaces you can possibly imagine – all of the nooks and crannies you think they couldn't possibly get in – guess again – they can and given an opportunity, they will! And what is worse - is getting them back out without squishing them or injuring them when you have to move the furniture away from them in order to reach them!!!

A Playpen offers Flexibility, Mobility & up-close Supervision!
In a playpen your puppy can be wherever you are, as you go through your days' activities, and still be in a safe environment. Playpens are mobile, and easily moved from room to room, or even taken along to work if your work environment allows for it.
You can cuddle, smooch and love on each other to your hearts content, you just don't want him underfoot walking, running and playing through the entire house, wearing himself out, or getting stepped on or fallen over. Oh and by the way – they never, never know when to quit well ahead of time!!! Puppies can play until they fall asleep during playing, forgetting to eat or drink, and then crash [go hypo] an hour or two later.
She can hang out and walk with you – just not all day long. In a playpen she can stay close by, without being active and all over the place. Your pup can be held and cuddled as much as you want to, as long as it can spend sufficient rest/sleep time and has access to food and water whenever it needs to. Until the pup is somewhere in the 6-7 months range, you should treat it like a human infant and schedule meals/resting/sleeping periods, and after it reaches that age - still treat it with much consideration in regards to size limitations, energy levels, and safety concerns.

A Puppy Playpen facilitates Potty Training!
Potty Training does not get any easier than that! Even the duh-est puppy will get potty training and even the laziest owner will have success with this in the playpen!
No needs to go out 3 times in the middle of the night, when it is cold and dark and sometimes dangerous for wee bitty puppies outside. No loosing the pup in the dark, and no catching colds or worse for your littles during the colder months.
A playpen lends itself perfectly to both litterbox training [most adult teacups and tinies are still smaller than most cats - and yes - that is all the way grown up!] or peepad or paper training.
